On the menu for Swatchscape today is the China Glaze Cheers! Collection for Winter 2015. The collection of 12 polishes has a few cremes, but the majority range from shimmery to downright sparkle-tastic.
Swatching the China Glaze Cheers! Collection for us is Dolly, who you can find on Instagram at @ihartbluestar. Thanks so much for swatching these lovely polishes for us, Dolly!
Let’s get into the photos and info on each polish, shall we? The notes on each polish are from Dolly herself, who was kind enough to send us her takes on each as she applied them.
Mix and Mingle – a rich purple creme. The formula is thin, I’m not satisfied with the opaqueness of two coats so I did three thin coats no base color and no top coat needed as it dries very glossy. I didnt have any problems in applying the coats, it’s easy to apply and dries smooth.
Wine Down for What? – a deep red creme. The formula is also thin but I like the opaqueness when i swatched it in just two coats. It’s also easy to apply, dries glossy and smooth so I didnt have to use a topcoat. I fell in love with this color. It has a hint of brownish-cherry tone to it.
Better Not Pout – a fuchsia berry shimmery polish. The color is nice if you dont want the usual red color for holidays. The formula is also on the thin side. It is easy and smooth to apply and dries with a pearlescent shimmer finish. Swatched here are three thin coats that dry shiny.
Son of a Nutcracker – a pinkish-orangy red shimmery polish. Formula is thin, I needed three thick coats for full coverage. Though, it is easy to apply with no visible streaks. It is so shiny and the shimmers are really pretty when hit by light. It dries with pearlescent and shimmery finish.
Peppermint to Be – a holiday ruby red shimmer polish. It has the classic Christmas/holiday red hue with a shimmery macro gold glitter. It is bold and shiny, swatched here in three thin coats.
Don’t Get Elfed Up – a teal shimmer jelly polish. The polish has blackish jelly base filled with macro teal glitters. Swatched here are three thin coats no topcoat. This is one of my favorite in this collection. Depending on the light, the shimmer flashes a hint of purple and different shades of blue.
Brand Sparkin New Year – a purple glitter jelly polish. It is a bit thicker than the shimmery and creme polishes due to the glitter load.
It has purple hex glitters and varieties of holographic glitters in a thicker purple jelly base. I used three coats on its own in this swatch topped with a glossy topcoat, but I think it will also look good over a similar shade creme base. Application is a bit difficult since brushing on layers over layers seems to take off the glitters. Also it dries thicker and a bit textured.
Ugly Sweater Party – a mixture of multicolored glitters over hot pink, red jelly base. This is my least favorite polish in this collection due to color combinations. The polish is filled with glitters of varieties of colors and sizes. Formula is thick and is a bit hard to apply. I used three thin coats on its own without underlining base color in this swatch and topped it with a glossy topcoat. It dries a bit textured too despite topcoat application.
Coal Hands Warm Hearts – a mixture of holographic silver, dark blue and charcoal chunks of hex glitters on a black jelly base. Application is a bit tricky since the formula is sheer but thick with the glitters. Swatched here are three thin coats on its own plus topcoat. I think this can also be a nice topper over a black creme base but I like to see how it looks over naked nails. I like how it turned out despite it being thick and textured.
I Soiree I Didn’t Do It – a teal holographic jelly polish. This polish is filled with macro holographic teal and a hint of macro holographic silver glitters on a teal jelly base. This is another one of my favorites on this collection. Application is also a bit tricky since the formula is thick with glitters but it’s manageable compared to the other big hex glitter polishes. The color reminds me of mermaid scales, it’s sparkly and shimmery!
Swatched here are three thin coats over naked nails topped with glossy topcoat.
Bring on the Bubbly – is a gorgeous classy glitter topper. This polish is the perfect gold topper for the holidays. It is a mixture of different sizes of gold glitters on clear base. I like how easy this is to apply. The polish has a great thin formula and the way the brush picks up glitters is really easy. For added Christmas/holiday spirit, I matched red and gold, so here I swatched two thin coat over one thin coat of Peppermint to Be.
Break the Ice – is another gorgeous classy glitter topper. It has shreds of holographic pearlescent silver glitters on a clear base. Unlike Bring on the Bubbly, this has a thicker base so application is a bit harder. I have to dab the glitters instead of just brushing it on. Swatched here is two coats over one coat of Don’t Get Elfed Up.
Why do you think of the China Glaze Cheers Collection? We’re really digging the larger glitters for holiday. Check back soon for more swatches of holiday collections!
